The Hardy Elementary community is thrilled to announce we will undergo a transformative Whole Site Modernization project that will provide substantial campus-wide improvements. The project is set to begin construction in the spring of 2025 with an anticipated completion in 2028. To minimize impacts to student learning, the project will occur in phases. This significant project is a result of diligent planning and is funded by Prop S, Z, and YY bonds.
We have held multiple Design Task Force meetings, bringing together the project manager, District personnel, and the architecture firm. These sessions were invaluable, providing a platform for school staff, parents, and community members to offer their insights and suggestions. A diverse group of stakeholders, including the principal, students, special education staff, teachers, the BSS, office staff, and parents, actively participated in meetings to refine the project’s scope and details.
The modernization plan encompasses both the renovation of existing facilities and the construction of new buildings to replace outdated structures.
Highlights include:
- A new two-story classroom building housing Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) and Kindergarten on the ground floor and grades 3-5 on the second floor.
- A dedicated underclassman play area will be constructed.
- A new food services building with an adjacent covered food court.
- The library, student services administration building, and existing classrooms will be renovated.
- The multipurpose building will also be renovated with a building addition housing a new stage.
- All existing portable classrooms will be removed.
- Extension of the parking lot and safe student drop-off and pick-up area.
- Installation of a new upper-grades playground near the new lunch area.
- A new student garden.
- Upgrades to the joint-use field.
