ATTENDANCE

CALL 619-860-5700 TO REPORT AN ABSENCE

In preparing for successful employment and relationships as adults, it is crucial for children to become habitually present and on time. We strongly encourage parents to schedule medical and dental appointments during school vacations or after school hours.

Missing any time from school means not only loss of valuable instructional time, but also a loss of funds to the school district.

It is the responsibility of parents to call the school to report an absence, keeping in mind that positive COVID test results, symptoms of illness and bereavement are the only reasons to miss school.

Parents may request an independent study contract, two weeks in advance, from the school office for their students for absences of three days or longer– regardless of reason (usually for travel).  Students will benefit from the learning activities and the school will qualify for state funds. We cannot guarantee an attendance contract will be honored on short notice.

Under California law (Ed. Code 48200), all Hardy students are required to be enrolled and in regular attendance at school unless exempt by other provisions of the Education Code.
